The Trust Curb Gag Bit with Straight Leather Bar is made of leather and equipped with gag bit rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar.
Bit Material
Leather
The acceptance of leather bits is extraordinarily high. Almost every horse likes the softness and taste of leather. As leather is a natural product, it stimulates salivation and chewing activity. The bit slides easily in the mouth, thereby increasing well-being. Leather mouthpieces are usually vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely bit-sour usually readily accept a leather bit and can relearn to trust the bit.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should be soaked in cooking oil for a few hours before the first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
Manufacturer Information

Mouthpiece
Straight Bar Bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Gag Bits
The gag bit can be ridden with two reins. Increased pressure on the second rein causes the bit to tip and pull up into the corners of the mouth. This means a reinforced action. Very good for horses that tend to lean on the bit. The bit also supports the horse's natural self-carriage.
