Horses dissipate heat primarily through sweat, which leads not only to a loss of water but also of essential electrolytes. If these losses are not replenished, it can lead to lactic acid build-up, "tying-up," dehydration, and reduced performance.

How helpful are electrolytes for horse performance?
Sodium: It is essential for muscle contraction, nerves, cell function, and osmotic cell exchange.
Potassium: In synergistic relation with sodium, it ensures osmotic cell regulation as well as nerve and muscle contractions.
Chloride: Together with sodium and potassium, it balances the acid/base ratio in cells. It is also important for good kidney function.
Calcium: It is necessary for cell membrane function, blood coagulation, and neuromuscular functions.
Magnesium: It is extremely important for muscle contraction and energy production.
Bicarbonate: It acts as a "buffer" to prevent lactic acid build-up.
Sulphate: It improves the absorption capacity of negatively charged electrolytes.
Citrate: It aids in establishing isotonic balance.

Instructions for proper use:
