Product description
Stübben STEELtec 2in1 3-Ring Snaffle 16 mm | 70x150 mm | 14.5 cm
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's cheek area. This makes it a rather medium-strength mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The Stübben STEELtec development team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Stübben STEELtec 2in1 3-Ring Snaffle 16 mm | 70x150 mm | 14.5 cm from the Stübben STEELtec range in more detail:
The Stübben STEELtec 2in1 3-Ring Snaffle 16 mm | 70x150 mm | 14.5 cm bit is made of stainless steel and features 3-ring side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for very large warmbloods.
Side Piece
3-Ring
The three-ring bit combines effective lateral limitation, leverage, and lifting action in one bit. The degree of action is selected by the various rein attachment options. When attached in the lower ring, the taking rein exerts the effect of a short lever on the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.
Mouthpiece
single-jointed
A single-jointed bit has one hinge point, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed mouthpiece.
Bit Material
Stainless Steel
The most common material for bits is stainless steel. Stainless steel comes in different compositions and consists of steel and various metals. Steel, in turn, is iron that has been alloyed with carbon.
To obtain stainless steel, the steel is mixed with various metals to form different alloys. The most commonly used alloy for stainless steel bits consists of steel, chromium, and nickel.
