The bit range from Stübben STEELtec provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Stübben STEELtec 2in1 D-ring snaffle from the Stübben STEELtec range in more detail today:
The Stübben STEELtec 2in1 D-ring snaffle is made of stainless steel and equipped with D-shaped rings as side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed.
Bit thickness
The bit is 14mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Stainless steel
The most common material for bits is stainless steel. Stainless steel comes in different compositions and consists of steel and various metals. Steel, in turn, is iron that has been alloyed with carbon.
To obtain stainless steel, the steel is mixed with various metals to form different alloys. The most commonly used alloy for stainless steel bits consists of steel, chromium and nickel.
Manufacturer information
Mouthpiece
single jointed
The single jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which exerts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double jointed mouthpiece.
Side piece
D-ring
Due to the properties of this bit, it is wonderfully suited for young horses that are still a little inexperienced. The shape and weight of the side pieces ensure a calm and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-shaped rings, optimal lateral support is provided. Good and calm rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.
