Product description
Stübben STEELtec 2in1 3-Ring Snaffle
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. So it is more of a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Stübben STEELtec bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the best materials. We would like to introduce you to the Stübben STEELtec 2in1 3-Ring Snaffle from the Stübben STEELtec range in more detail today:
The Stübben STEELtec 2in1 3-Ring Snaffle bit is made of stainless steel and equipped with 3-ring side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.
Bit Thickness
Sidepiece
3-Ring
The three-ring bit combines an effective lateral limitation, leverage and lifting effect in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the different rein attachment options. When attached to the lower ring, the rein applies the effect of a short lever to the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.
Mouthpiece
single-jointed
The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece mainly puts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single-jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very common.
Bit Material
Stainless steel
The most common material for bits is stainless steel. Stainless steel comes in different compositions and consists of steel and various metals. Steel, in turn, is iron that has been alloyed with carbon.
To obtain stainless steel, the steel is mixed with various metals to form different alloys. The most commonly used alloy for stainless steel bits consists of steel, chromium and nickel.
