Product description
Stübben STEELtec 1/2-Cheek Snaffle Easy Control Double Broken
The bit is 14mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's lip area. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shire horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Stübben STEELtec team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today we would like to present the Stübben STEELtec 1/2-Cheek Snaffle Easy Control Double Broken bit from the Stübben STEELtec range in more detail:
The Stübben STEELtec 1/2-Cheek Snaffle Easy Control Double Broken bit is made of stainless steel and equipped with shanks or cheeks as a side piece. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.
Bit Thickness
Side Piece
Cheek Snaffle
The cheek snaffle lies very quietly and stably in the mouth. It ensures reliable lateral limitation without the risk of skin and lips being pinched by the angled bars. This bit is suitable for horses that need clear lateral support and guidance when turning.
Mouthpiece
Double Jointed
The double-jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit applies pressure to the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. The bit should not be used on narrow lower jaws. The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double-jointed bit applies more pressure to the tongue compared to single-jointed bits.
Bit Material
Stainless Steel
The most common material for bits is stainless steel. Stainless steel comes in different compositions and consists of steel and various metals. Steel, in turn, is iron that has been alloyed with carbon.
To obtain stainless steel, the steel is mixed with different metals to form various alloys. The most common alloy used for stainless steel bits consists of steel, chromium and nickel.
