Product description

Sprenger WH Ultra Weymouth Snaffle, Double Jointed, Sensogan, 14mm

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 14mm at its thickest point, making it a medium-thickness mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Weymouth snaffles for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Sprenger bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the best materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger WH Ultra Weymouth Snaffle, double jointed, Sensogan, 14mm from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The Sprenger WH Ultra Weymouth Snaffle, double jointed, Sensogan, 14mm is made of Sensogan and equipped with smaller side pieces as a weymouth snaffle for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.

Mouthpiece

double jointed

The double jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used with narrow lower jaws. The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue than single jointed bits. Weymouth Snaffle

The weymouth snaffle is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The weymouth snaffle is usually chosen half to one centimeter larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a solid bar and the weymouth snaffle is jointed.

Bit material

Sensogan

The Sensogan material mix consists of copper, manganese, and zinc. The trace element manganese has a positive effect on the horse's metabolism and stress reduction. The combination of copper and manganese results in a controlled oxidation process that promotes chewing activity. Sprenger's Sensogan bits are characterized by high compatibility.
