Product description

Sprenger WH Ultra Weymouth Bradoon Aurigan double jointed 14mm

The bit is 14mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a medium-thick mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.

Weymouth bradoons usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Sprenger bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Sprenger WH Ultra Weymouth Bradoon Aurigan double jointed 14mm bit from the Sprenger range in a little more detail today:

The Sprenger WH Ultra Weymouth Bradoon Aurigan double jointed 14mm bit is made of Aurigan and features smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.

Mouthpiece

double jointed

Double jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. Caution with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars if the lower jaw is narrow. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue than single jointed bits. Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available as single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth, as the Weymouth is a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed.

Bit material

Aurigan

Aurigan consists of 85% copper, silicon, and zinc. To keep copper nickel-free, more elaborate work steps are necessary, which makes the material more expensive, which is why Sprenger's Aurigan bits are more expensive than bits made of stainless steel or Argentan.
