Product description

Sprenger Weymouth bridoon, single-jointed, stainless steel, 14mm

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 14mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

Comparison values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.

Weymouth bridoons usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The bit range from Sprenger provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Sprenger Weymouth bridoon, single-jointed, stainless steel, 14mm from the Sprenger range in more detail today:

The Sprenger Weymouth bridoon, single-jointed, stainless steel, 14mm is made of stainless steel and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.

single-jointed

The Sprenger Weymouth bridoon, single-jointed, stainless steel, 14mm has a joint in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece mainly exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is the most popular mouthpiece on the market. Bridoon

The bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a solid bar and the bridoon is jointed.

Bit material

Stainless steel

The most common material for bits is stainless steel. Stainless steel comes in different compositions and consists of steel and various metals. Steel, in turn, is iron that has been alloyed with carbon.

To obtain stainless steel, the steel is mixed with various metals to form different alloys. The most commonly used alloy for stainless steel bits consists of steel, chromium, and nickel.
