Product description

Sprenger Turnado Loose Ring Snaffle, Single-Jointed Aurigan 16mm

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its widest point. It is therefore a medium-strength mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The Sprenger development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger Turnado Loose Ring Snaffle, Single-Jointed Aurigan 16mm from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The Sprenger Turnado Loose Ring Snaffle, Single-Jointed Aurigan 16mm bit is made of Aurigan and equipped with loose ring cheeks, i.e. rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.

Loose ring snaffle

The loose ring snaffle has two loose rings at each end. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Sprenger Turnado Loose Ring Snaffle, Single-Jointed Aurigan 16mm is therefore a bit for horses that prefer a more "mobile" bit in their mouth.

Mouthpiece

single-jointed

The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed mouthpiece.

Bit material

Aurigan

Aurigan consists of 85% copper, silicon and zinc. In order to keep copper nickel-free, more complex production steps are necessary, which make the material more expensive, which is why Sprenger Aurigan bits are higher priced than bits made of stainless steel or Argentan.
