Sprenger Turnado Weymouth Bradoon Aurigan Single-Jointed 14mm

In a nutshell

  • Manufacturer: Sprenger
  • Material: Aurigan
  • Side piece: Weymouth Bradoon
  • Mouthpiece: single-jointed
  • Hardness:
  • Bit thickness: 14mm
  • Size: cm

The bit assortment from Sprenger provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger Turnado Weymouth Bradoon Aurigan single-jointed 14mm bit from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The Sprenger Turnado Weymouth Bradoon Aurigan single-jointed 14mm bit is made of Aurigan and features smaller side pieces as a Weymouth Bradoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.

Bit thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 14 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.

Weymouth bradoons for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit Material

Aurigan

Aurigan consists of 85% copper, silicon and zinc. In order to keep copper nickel-free, more complex work steps are necessary, which make the material more expensive, which is why Sprenger's Aurigan bits are more expensive than bits made of stainless steel or Argentan.

Manufacturer Information

Sprenger

The family-run business has existed since 1872 and specializes in metal processing, whether it's boat fittings, stirrups or bridles. H.S. Sprenger is one of the most renowned manufacturers in the equestrian, canine and water sports industries. The company stands for high quality standards and innovation. Examples of this are the development of the metal alloys Aurigan and Sensogan, which are used for their bits.

Mouthpiece

single-jointed

The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily applies pressure to the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single-jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very common.

Side Piece

Weymouth Bradoon

The Weymouth bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings); these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The Weymouth bradoon is usually chosen half to a full centimeter larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a bar and the bradoon is jointed.
