Product description

Sprenger Loose Ring Snaffle Bit Double Jointed Cu-Plus 16mm

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-strength mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

The Sprenger development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. We would like to introduce the Sprenger Loose Ring Snaffle Bit Double Jointed Cu-Plus 16mm from the Sprenger range in more detail today:

The Sprenger Loose Ring Snaffle Bit Double Jointed Cu-Plus 16mm is made of stainless steel and features loose rings, like a loose ring snaffle. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.

Bit Thickness

Cheek Piece

Loose ring snaffle

A loose running ring characterizes a loose ring snaffle. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Sprenger Loose Ring Snaffle Bit Double Jointed Cu-Plus 16mm is therefore ideal for beginners and horses that are somewhat inactive in the mouth.

Mouthpiece

Double jointed

Double jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is more shaped towards the mouth, and lies somewhat looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. The bit should not be used on horses with narrow lower jaws. The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to wounds. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits.

Bit Material

Stainless steel

The most common material for bits is stainless steel. Stainless steel comes in different compositions and consists of steel and various metals. Steel, in turn, is iron that has been alloyed with carbon.

To obtain stainless steel, the steel is mixed with various metals to form different alloys. The most commonly used alloy for stainless steel bits consists of steel, chromium, and nickel.
