Product description

Sprenger Max Control Weymouth Bridoon, stainless steel, double-jointed, 12mm

The bit is 12mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's lip area. So it is rather a thin mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is rather 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Weymouth bridoons usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The bit range from Sprenger provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger Max Control Weymouth Bridoon, stainless steel, double-jointed, 12mm from the Sprenger range in a little more detail:

The bit Sprenger Max Control Weymouth Bridoon, stainless steel, double-jointed, 12mm is made of stainless steel and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double-jointed.

Mouthpiece

double-jointed

A double-jointed mouthpiece is a very common mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. The double-jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single-jointed bits. Weymouth Bridoon

The Weymouth bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffle bits lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The Weymouth bridoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed.

Bit material

Stainless steel

The most common material for bits is stainless steel. Stainless steel is available in different compositions and consists of steel and various metals. Steel, in turn, is iron that has been alloyed with carbon.

To obtain stainless steel, the steel is mixed with various metals to form different alloys. The most commonly used alloy for stainless steel bits consists of steel, chromium, and nickel.
