Product description

Sprenger Max Control, Double Jointed Stainless Steel Rustproof 16mm

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The Sprenger team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger Max Control, double jointed stainless steel rustproof 16mm bit from the Sprenger range in a little more detail:

The bit Sprenger Max Control, double jointed stainless steel rustproof 16mm is made of stainless steel and equipped with loose ring cheeks, i.e. rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.

Bit Thickness

Cheek Piece

Loose ring snaffle

A loose running ring characterizes a loose ring snaffle. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Sprenger Max Control, double jointed stainless steel rustproof 16mm is therefore a bit for horses that prefer a "more mobile" bit in their mouth.

Mouthpiece

double jointed

Double jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits.

Bit Material

Stainless steel

The most common material for bits is stainless steel. Stainless steel comes in different compositions and consists of steel and various metals. Steel, in turn, is iron that has been alloyed with carbon.

To obtain stainless steel, the steel is mixed with various metals to form different alloys. The most commonly used alloy for stainless steel bits consists of steel, chromium, and nickel.
