Product description

Sprenger KK Weymouth Bit Single Jointed Sensogan 14mm

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 14mm at its widest point, making it a moderately thick mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and especially large warmbloods, draught horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.

Weymouth bits for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Sprenger bits are carefully selected and made from the best materials. We would like to introduce you to the Sprenger KK Weymouth Bit Single Jointed Sensogan 14mm from the Sprenger range in a little more detail:

The Sprenger KK Weymouth Bit Single Jointed Sensogan 14mm is made of Sensogan and equipped with smaller cheekpieces as a Weymouth bit for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.

single jointed

A single-jointed bit has one hinge point, which exerts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single-jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very widely used. Weymouth Bit

The Weymouth bit is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The Weymouth bit is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a solid bar and the Weymouth bit is jointed.

Bit Material

Sensogan

The Sensogan material mix consists of copper, manganese and zinc. The trace element manganese has a positive effect on the horse's metabolism and stress reduction. The combination of copper and manganese results in a dosed oxidation process that promotes chewing activity. Sprenger's Sensogan bits are characterised by high compatibility.
