  • Cheekpiece: Bradoon
  • Mouthpiece: Double jointed
  • Hardness:
  • Bit thickness: 16mm
  • Size: cm

Sprenger bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the best materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger KK Ultra Bradoon Double Jointed Sensogan 16mm bit from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The Sprenger KK Ultra Bradoon Double Jointed Sensogan 16mm bit is made of Sensogan and features smaller cheekpieces as a bradoon for weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point, making it a medium-thick mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.

Bradoons for weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can test how much space there is between the tongue and palate with your fingers.

Bit Material

Sensogan Copper, manganese and zinc are the components of Sprenger's Sensogan alloy. The trace element manganese has a positive effect on the horse's metabolism and stress reduction. The combination of copper and manganese results in a dosed oxidation process that promotes chewing activity. Sprenger's Sensogan bits are characterized by high compatibility.

Manufacturer Information

Sprenger

The family-run business has existed since 1872 and specializes in metal processing, whether it's boat fittings, stirrups or bridles. H.S. Sprenger is one of the most well-known manufacturers in the equestrian, dog and boating sports industries. The company stands for high quality standards and innovation. Examples include the development of the metal alloys Aurigan and Sensogan, which are used for their bits.

Mouthpiece

Double jointed

The double-jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, bars and corners of the mouth. Caution with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double-jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single-jointed bits.

Cheekpiece

Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other bits lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the weymouth bit, as the weymouth bit has a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed.
