Product description

Sprenger KK Ultra Bradoon Aurigan Double Jointed 14mm

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 14 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-strength mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.

Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The bit range from Sprenger creates soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger KK Ultra Bradoon Aurigan double jointed 14mm bit from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The bit Sprenger KK Ultra Bradoon Aurigan double jointed 14mm is made of Aurigan and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.

Mouthpiece

double jointed

The double-jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth and sits a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used on narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars if the lower jaw is narrow. The double-jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single-jointed bits. Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed.

Bit material

Aurigan

Aurigan consists of 85% copper, silicon and zinc. In order to keep copper nickel-free, more complex work steps are necessary, which make the material more expensive, which is why Sprenger's Aurigan bits are more expensive than bits made of stainless steel or Argentan.
