The Sprenger KK ULTRA Liverpool Weymouth 18 mm - Sensogan bit is made of Sensogan and equipped with driving Weymouth cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The mouthpiece has a mouthpiece size of 18 centimeters. The 18cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for very large horses such as draft horses and Shire Horses.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 18mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sensogan
The Sensogan material mix consists of copper, manganese and zinc. The trace element manganese has a positive effect on the horse's metabolism and stress reduction. The combination of copper and manganese results in a dosed oxidation process that promotes chewing activity. Sprenger's Sensogan bits are characterized by high compatibility.
Manufacturer Information
Sprenger
The family-run business has existed since 1872 and specializes in metal processing, whether for boat fittings, stirrups or bridles. H.S. Sprenger is one of the most famous manufacturers in the equestrian, dog and boating sports sectors. The company stands for high quality standards and innovation. Examples include the development of the Aurigan and Sensogan metal alloys used for their bits.
Mouthpiece
double jointed
Double jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two joints, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. The bit should not be used on horses with narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars if the lower jaw is narrow. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits.
Cheekpiece
Driving Weymouth
Driving Weymouths like the Sprenger KK ULTRA Liverpool Weymouth 18 mm - Sensogan are specially suited to the needs of carriage horses. There are several types of driving Weymouths.
Liverpool Weymouth The Liverpool Weymouth is a classic driving bit and offers several options for rein attachment. The Liverpool Weymouth is usually available with short or long shanks. It is also possible to tilt the angle of the tongue arch forward. This forward tilt relieves the bars and acts more on the tongue.
Post Weymouth The Post Weymouth is also a classic driving Weymouth and is commonly used for land harnessing. It offers two options for rein attachment. Attachment in the lower ring is used to achieve a leverage effect. When attached in the upper ring, this leverage effect is absent, and the bit becomes a snaffle.
