  • Cheek Piece: Loose Ring Snaffle
  • Mouthpiece: Single-jointed

  • Bit thickness: 18mm
  • Size: cm

The bit range from Sprenger provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger Rubber Snaffle Bit, Stainless Steel, Rust-Free, Single-Jointed, 18mm from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The Sprenger Rubber Snaffle Bit, Stainless Steel, Rust-Free, Single-Jointed, 18mm is made of rubber and equipped with loose ring snaffle cheek pieces, i.e., rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.

Bit thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 18mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold bloods, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit material

Rubber

Rubber as a bit material is generally a little softer than plastic. Rubber bits are usually very flexible and soft. Due to the slightly rougher surface structure, a so-called "eraser effect" can occur in horses with insufficient saliva production, where the rubber starts to rub slightly in the mouth.

Manufacturer Information

Sprenger

The family-run business has existed since 1872 and specializes in metal processing, whether it's boat fittings, stirrups, or bridles. H.S. Sprenger is one of the most renowned manufacturers in the equestrian, canine, and boating sports industries. The company stands for high-quality standards and innovation. Examples include the development of the metal alloys Aurigan and Sensogan, which are used for their bits.

Mouthpiece

Single-jointed

A single-jointed bit has one hinge point, which exerts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single-jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very widely used.

Cheek Piece

Loose Ring Snaffle

A loose ring characterizes a loose ring snaffle. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Sprenger Rubber Snaffle Bit, Stainless Steel, Rust-Free, Single-Jointed, 18mm is therefore a bit for horses that prefer a more "mobile" bit in their mouth.
