The Sprenger team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger Dynamic RS Loose Ring Snaffle Single Jointed Sensogan 14mm bit from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The Sprenger Dynamic RS Loose Ring Snaffle Single Jointed Sensogan 14mm bit is made of Sensogan and equipped with loose ring cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.

Bit Thickness

The bit is 14mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit Material

Sensogan Copper, manganese, and zinc are the components of Sprenger's Sensogan alloy. The trace element manganese has a positive effect on the horse's metabolism and stress reduction. The combination of copper and manganese results in a dosed oxidation process that promotes chewing activity. Sprenger's Sensogan bits are characterized by high compatibility.

Information about the manufacturer

Sprenger

The family-run business has existed since 1872 and specializes in metal processing, whether for boat fittings, stirrups, or bridles. H.S. Sprenger is one of the most renowned manufacturers in the equestrian, canine, and marine sports industries. The company stands for high quality standards and innovation. Examples include the development of the metal alloys Aurigan and Sensogan, which are used for their bits.

Mouthpiece

single jointed

The Sprenger Dynamic RS Loose Ring Snaffle Single Jointed Sensogan 14mm has a joint in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed one.

Cheek Piece

Loose Ring Snaffle

A loose-running ring characterizes a loose ring snaffle. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Sprenger Dynamic RS Loose Ring Snaffle Single Jointed Sensogan 14mm is therefore a bit for horses that prefer a more "mobile" bit in their mouth.
