Sprenger Dynamic RS Weymouth Bradoon Sensogan Single Jointed 14mm

In a nutshell

  • Manufacturer: Sprenger
  • Material: Sensogan
  • Cheek Piece: Weymouth Bradoon
  • Mouthpiece: Single jointed
  • Hardness:
  • Bit Thickness: 14mm
  • Size: cm

The Sprenger bit range provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger Dynamic RS Weymouth Bradoon Sensogan single jointed 14mm bit from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The Sprenger Dynamic RS Weymouth Bradoon Sensogan single jointed 14mm bit is made of Sensogan and features smaller cheek pieces, like a Weymouth bradoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed.

Bit Thickness

The bit is 14mm thick, measured at the thickest part in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more likely to be between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Weymouth bradoons for double bridles usually tend to have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit Material

Sensogan Copper, manganese, and zinc are the components of Sprenger's Sensogan alloy. The trace element manganese has a positive effect on the horse's metabolism and stress reduction. The combination of copper and manganese results in a dosed oxidation process that promotes chewing activity. Sprenger's Sensogan bits are characterized by high compatibility.

Manufacturer Information

Sprenger

The family-run business has existed since 1872 and specializes in metal processing, whether for boat fittings, stirrups, or bridles. H.S. Sprenger is one of the most renowned manufacturers in the equestrian, canine, and boating industries. The company stands for high quality standards and innovation. Examples include the development of the Aurigan and Sensogan metal alloys used for their bits.

Mouthpiece

Single jointed

A single jointed bit has one hinge point, which exerts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily applies pressure to the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double jointed mouthpiece.

Cheek Piece

Weymouth Bradoon

The Weymouth bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The Weymouth bradoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a curb bit and the bradoon is jointed.
