Product description

Sprenger Dynamic RS Weymouth Bradoon Aurigan Double-Jointed 14mm

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 14mm at its thickest point, making it a medium-strength mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods, and Shire horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Weymouth bradoons typically have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Sprenger bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the best materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger Dynamic RS Weymouth Bradoon Aurigan Double-Jointed 14mm bit from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The Sprenger Dynamic RS Weymouth Bradoon Aurigan Double-Jointed 14mm bit is made of Aurigan and features smaller cheekpieces as a weymouth bradoon for curb bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double-jointed.

Mouthpiece

Double-jointed

The double-jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two joints, is shaped more towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, bars, and corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used on horses with narrow lower jaws. The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double-jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single-jointed bits. Weymouth Bradoon

The weymouth bradoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The weymouth bradoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed.

Bit Material

Aurigan

Aurigan consists of 85% copper, silicon, and zinc. To keep copper nickel-free, more complex manufacturing steps are necessary, which makes the material more expensive, which is why Sprenger Aurigan bits are more expensive than bits made of stainless steel or Argentan.
