The Sprenger development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today we would like to present the Sprenger Dynamic RS D-Ring Snaffle Bit, double-jointed, Sensogan, 14mm from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The Sprenger Dynamic RS D-Ring Snaffle Bit, double-jointed, Sensogan, 14mm is made of Sensogan and equipped with D-shaped rings as cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double-jointed.

Bit thickness

The bit is 14mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's lip area. This makes it a rather medium-strength mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is typically between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When selecting bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit material

Sensogan Copper, manganese, and zinc are the components of Sprenger's Sensogan alloy. The trace element manganese has a positive effect on the horse's metabolism and stress reduction. The combination of copper and manganese results in a metered oxidation process that promotes chewing activity. Sprenger's Sensogan bits are characterized by high compatibility.

Manufacturer information

Sprenger

The family-run business has existed since 1872 and specializes in metal processing, whether for boat fittings, stirrups, or bridles. H.S. Sprenger is one of the most renowned manufacturers in the equestrian, canine, and watersports industries. The company stands for high quality standards and innovation. Examples of this are the development of the metal alloys Aurigan and Sensogan, which are used for their bits.

Mouthpiece

double-jointed

The double-jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two joints, is shaped more towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, bars, and corners of the mouth. Caution with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. Compared to a single-jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.

Cheekpiece

D-ring

Due to the characteristics of this bit, it is wonderfully suitable for young horses who are still somewhat inexperienced. The shape and weight of the cheekpieces ensure a calm and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-shaped rings, optimal lateral stability is provided. Good and quiet rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.
