The Sprenger development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger CM Liverpool Curb Bit 16 mm - Sensogan from the Sprenger range:

The Sprenger CM Liverpool Curb Bit 16 mm - Sensogan is made of Sensogan and equipped with driving curb cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar with a port. The mouthpiece has a size of 18 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for Shire Horses and cold-blooded horses.

Bit Thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest part in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit Material

Sensogan Copper, manganese, and zinc are the components of Sprenger's Sensogan alloy. The trace element manganese has a positive effect on the horse's metabolism and stress reduction. The combination of copper and manganese results in a controlled oxidation process that promotes chewing activity. Sprenger's Sensogan bits are characterized by high compatibility.

Manufacturer Information

Sprenger

The family-run business has existed since 1872 and specializes in metal processing, whether it's boat fittings, stirrups, or bridles. H.S. Sprenger is one of the most renowned manufacturers in the equestrian, canine, and boating industries. The company stands for high quality standards and innovation. Examples include the development of the metal alloys Aurigan and Sensogan, which are used for their bits.

Mouthpiece

Straight bar with port

The straight bar with port provides space for the tongue, reducing pressure on the center of the horse's tongue. More tongue freedom is ideal for horses with sensitive tongues or horses that stick out their tongues. This bit is not suitable for inexperienced riders.

Cheek Piece

Driving Curbs

Driving curbs such as the Sprenger CM Liverpool Curb Bit 16 mm - Sensogan are specially suited for the needs of carriage horses. There are several types of driving curbs.

Liverpool Curb The Liverpool curb is a classic driving bit and offers several options for rein attachment. The Liverpool curb is usually available with short or long shanks. It is also possible to tilt the angle of the tongue arch forward. This forward tilt relieves pressure on the bars and acts more on the tongue.

Post Curb The Post curb is also a classic driving curb and commonly used for agricultural harnessing. It offers two options for rein attachment. Attachment in the lower ring creates leverage. When attached in the upper ring, this leverage is absent, and the bit becomes a snaffle.
