Product description
The Equine Legcooler is a system that cools horse legs with cold circulating water.
The device must be placed on a horse's back and then connected to a water supply network. From two pipes, water flows from the horse's back to two distribution units on both sides of the horse.
This Equine Legcooler contains the following components:
- 1 Harness
- 4 Leg Sprinklers
- 2 Distribution Units
- Hose connectors
Through these units, the water is distributed by pipes between the right and left sides of the horse. Leg sprinklers are connected to these pipes, which must be attached to the front and hind legs.
For the front leg, the sprinkler must be attached directly above the front knee (carpus), and for the hind leg, this connection point is directly above the hock.
Furthermore, two taps are connected to the distribution units. This allows the water intake to be opened and proportioned so that all legs can be supplied with the same amount of cold water simultaneously, or separately with different amounts of water.
Important: It must not be forgotten to sufficiently moisten the hair of the horse's legs to ensure that the water cools the legs and is not impeded by the hair.
The recommended treatment duration is 20 to 30 minutes. After treatment, the legs must be thoroughly dried. Take enough time to examine the swelling of the legs, and also take enough time to look at the warmed-up tendons. If you suspect an injury, contact a professional.
Why is it useful to cool a horse's lower legs with cold water?
Whenever a horse has moved and exerted itself in this way, its tendons and joints of its lower legs have borne its weight. Metabolic products are formed, and sometimes small tissue damages occur.
Since tendon tissue, in particular, is subject to poor blood circulation, metabolism is not quickly triggered, and blood cells do not quickly reach such tissue damage to repair the tissue. To stimulate and improve blood circulation in the horse's lower leg, it is advisable to cool the horse's lower legs immediately after every training session or competition.
The lower legs cool down, and additional blood is attracted to warm the legs back up. During this process, the tendons and joints return to their original state. This treatment prevents the legs from aging quickly.
In fact, it repairs and prevents therapy at the same time. Even in the case of injuries, treatment with the Equine Legcooler is useful and highly recommended.
